Flexible pyeloscopy
Flexible pyeloscopy is an innovative type of endoscopy used to examine and operate on parts of the kidney inaccessible to a standard instrument (middle and lower renal calyx).
With the help of a flexible tool and a basket probe, it is possible to extract the stones outward or to move them for further laser crushing.

The method of flexible pyelolithotripsy
Pyelolithotripsy is a method of crushing stones in the renal pelvis. If we consider the differences in the methods of crushing a kidney stone, they are determined by the access of the instrument to the stone used by the specialist. There can be methods:
- Transurethral – through the urethra – bladder – ureter;
- Percutaneous – through the skin of the lumbar region – the kidney. Most often, laser or ultrasonic generators are used as lithotriptors.
What is the danger of stones in the kidney calyx?
If we talk about the danger, the fact is that renal calyx stones can cause acute impairment of urine flow from the kidney and severe pain at any time. This situation usually takes the patient by surprise.
In addition, the longer the stones are in the kidney calyx and grow there, the more chronic inflammation in the urinary tract will occur over time.
