Kidney cancer

When a patient with suspected kidney cancer comes to us, diagnostics are performed to determine the presence and nature of the tumor. The size and location of the tumor is also determined.

What are the types of kidney tumors?

  • benign – oncocytoma, angiomyolipoma, adenoma, leiomyoma, etc,
  • malignant – renal cell carcinoma, hypernephroidism, renal cell carcinoma, etc,
  • renal sarcoma
  • Nephroblastoma is a malignant tumor of the kidney parenchyma (Wilms’ tumor).

If you have any symptoms of malaise, you should contact our specialized center for a consultation with a specialist and undergo the necessary examinations!

Treatment of kidney tumors can be medical and surgical, depending on the size of the tumor and its location.

The main thing is to detect the development of the disease in time and begin proper treatment by qualified urologists who specialize in the treatment of these pathologies.

Symptoms of kidney cancer:

  • Blood in the urine (hematuria) in the context of complete health. It occurs as a result of tumor growth that destroys kidney tissue. The blood can clot, and these clots can cause renal colic similar to that of urolithiasis.
  • Abdominal tumor – the tumor gradually increases in size, and the kidney, along with the tumor, can be palpated through the abdomen.
  • Pain. Only in 10-15% of cases pain appears in early forms of kidney cancer. Also, pain can be a result of cancer tumor metastasis – the appearance of new foci of growth in other organs. In kidney cancer, metastases are most often found in the lungs, liver, and bones.

Diagnosis of kidney cancer

The diagnosis of kidney cancer is based on the patient’s complaints, as well as on the results of the examination and general clinical methods of investigation:

  • Ultrasound of the abdominal cavity,
  • Urography (X-ray examination of the kidneys using contrast agents),
  • Radionuclide scanning,
  • Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging.

Radical nephrectomy – treatment of kidney cancer

The main method of treating kidney cancer is surgery – RADICAL Nephrectomy.

During the operation, the kidney is removed, as well as the fatty tissue surrounding it and the ureter.

The Dievo Center also performs organ-preserving surgeries for kidney cancer if the disease is detected at an early stage!

Our urologists and surgeons have all the latest technologies for early diagnosis and surgical treatment of kidney cancer, including organ-preserving surgical techniques.

After the diagnostic stage, urologists at the DIEVO clinic discuss options for surgical treatment of cancer with the patient. In the vast majority of cases, we are talking about laparoscopic surgery, which is much easier for the patient to tolerate, reduces the risk of postoperative complications, and shortens the time for full rehabilitation and recovery.

Whatever the size of the tumor, our specialists always find effective and efficient methods that lead to organ preservation and remove only the kidney tumor.
