Prostate adenoma (benign prostatic hyperplasia)
is a mass that develops from prostate tissue and compresses the urethra. The tumor has a slow but steady development, and this process changes the symptoms for the worse. While at the 1st stage of the disease, the processes occurring in the lower urinary tract only impair the quality of life, at the 2nd and 3rd stages, they lead to irreversible disorders of the function and anatomy of internal organs.
The Urology Department of the Dievo Center has all the necessary equipment for the diagnosis and treatment of male diseases. Our specialists will select an effective treatment for you. You are guaranteed a personal and professional approach and, of course, complete anonymity.

What to do and where to start…
…when urinary disorders significantly affect your quality of life?
- First of all, do not self-medicate and do not postpone the examination!
- It is very important to seek help from a qualified urologist, a surgeon with extensive experience in the treatment of prostate adenoma.
- All surgical methods used in the treatment of this pathology require extensive experience of the surgeon.
Prostate adenoma: TUR (transurethral resection) surgery
Transurethral resection of prostate adenoma takes about 1 to 1.5 hours. It is performed under general or regional anesthesia. We use specialized innovative endoscopic equipment from the German company STORZ – a bipolar plasmokinetic resectoscope, which allows us to work on large adenomas without the risk of complications.
- HD camera and monitor for better visualization.
- A resectoscope is a thin tube about 30 cm long with a camera, light and a special electric loop at the end that is inserted into the urethra.
Thanks to the camera, the surgeon sees the image on the monitor and the prostate adenoma is removed under full visual control. The adenoma tissue is cut off layer by layer into the bladder lumen using a high-frequency current and an electric loop. After the surgery, a catheter is inserted for 1-3 days to drain the urine. After the catheter is removed, natural urination is restored.
The hospital stay after treatment is 2-3 days, depending on the patient’s condition.
Advantages of bipolar or plasmokinetic transurethral resection (TUR):
- Safe;
- The doctor is clearly aware of the full volume of the removed adenoma;
- Healing is faster than after laser;
- Material is taken for histology (to determine whether the tumor is benign or malignant).
Categories of complexity:
- TURN of prostate adenoma of the first category of complexity (up to 60 cc);
- TURN of prostate adenoma of the II category of complexity (from 60 cc to 100 cc);
- TURN of prostate adenoma of the III category of complexity (from 100 cc to 120 cc);
- TURN of prostate adenoma of IV category of complexity (more than 120 cm cube).
There is no doubt that transurethral resection of the prostate is one of the most jewel-like operations in surgical urology. It requires maximum concentration and professionalism of the doctor.
Prostate adenoma: laser removal by the German company Dornier
Thanks to its use, the prostate adenoma is vaporized, namely, it turns from a solid aggregate state into a gaseous state.
This is a non-traumatic and bloodless method in the treatment of small-sized hyperplasia.

Price of the prostate tour
First of all, you will undergo a series of examinations:
- Ultrasound of the prostate and its volume and the amount of residual urine in the bladder;
- uroflowmetry;
- a blood test for PSA (tumor marker), and only then will it be possible to discuss your specific situation, develop an individual treatment plan and start it.
We always (if the stage of the disease and the patient’s condition allow) start with medical treatment. If the stage of your disease is such that drug therapy has little effect on prostate growth, then you should resort to surgical treatment.
