Varicoceles

What is it?

Varicocele is a disease that causes varicose veins in the spermatic cord and testicle. Varicocele can be considered one of the most common diseases among men. The disease itself is not a big problem for the patient, and one can live with it for the rest of their life. But the main complication of this disease is male infertility and pain.

Treatment of varicose veins of the spermatic cord is performed surgically: Marmar, Ivanisevic operation, laparoscopic method.

The disease itself is almost asymptomatic at first, causing little discomfort to the patient. However, varicose veins provoke stagnation of venous blood and cause impaired thermoregulation in the scrotum. Therefore, varicocele increases the risk of male infertility.

Causes of varicose veins

This disease can be caused by a genetic predisposition or congenital anomalies and other causes.
Varicocele is a disease in which blood backflows into the testicular vein due to the failure of venous valves, resulting in stagnation of blood in the veins of the spermatic cord, testicle and their dilation.

The spermatic cord thickens, and the testicle on the corresponding side does not receive enough oxygen and nutrients, which leads to its gradual shrinkage (atrophy) and loss of function.

The specialists of the DIEVO Surgical Solutions Center not only successfully treat this disease, but also have a perfect command of the most effective operations using laparoscopic equipment and microsurgical access techniques (Marmara operation).

When surgical treatment is necessary:

  • In the presence of pain in the testicular area,
  • With a decrease in the quality of motility and sperm count (male infertility),
  • If there is a pronounced aesthetic defect in the scrotum,
  • The development of growth of the affected testicle during puberty is impaired.

Treatment of varicose veins

If the disease is detected in the early stages and there are no pronounced unpleasant symptoms, then conservative treatment is carried out. This includes wearing special underwear (garter), drug therapy, taking vitamins, and physical therapy.

In case of varicocele of II and III degree of severity, severe pain or development of complications, surgical treatment is recommended.

Various types of interventions are used in modern urology. The choice of method is determined by such individual factors as the patient’s age, the presence of concomitant diseases, etc.

Urologists at the Diyevo Center prefer minimally invasive, sparing, organ-preserving surgeries. With their help, scrotal varicose veins are eliminated, and rehabilitation is quick and much easier than after open interventions.
